Stepping through the gaping jaws of a megalodon, guests leave dry land behind and take a plunge into the mysteries of the deep at the Gregg County Historical Museum性视界传媒檚 new exhibit, Conquering the Seas: Unveiling its Secrets.

Museum Executive Director Jennifer White said the exhibit is a voyage through shipwrecks, sea monsters and the haunting silence of the Titanic. The exhibit covers the start of the age of exploration and uncovers everything that has been hidden from man below the surface of the oceans.

She said her favorite part of the exhibit is a virtual reality tour of the Titanic, a British passenger liner that sank on its maiden voyage after striking an iceberg April 14, 1912.

性视界传媒淪o you can put on the headset and you can go through the Titanic,性视界传媒 White said. "And you can choose to tour it when it was new or you can go through a scene of being on board when it's sinking or you can go through a salvage聽性视界传媒 like you're a submarine seeing the wrecked Titanic.性视界传媒

June 3-13: Mobile planetarium;

June 24: Lecture series "Exploring the Deep: Nautical Archeology and Shipwrecks"; and

June 26 and 28. Tiny Thinkers "Let's talk about Submarines."

The Gregg County Historical Museum is at 214 N. Fredonia St. in Longview. It's open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
