QUESTION: Why are they replacing the fence along Hawkins Parkway by Longview High School? It looks like two fences are being installed. Why? Any idea what the cost of this project will be?
ANSWER: This question is a combination of a couple of different inquiries I received.
When I called the communications office at LISD, I was instructed to send my inquiry to ask@lisd.org.
Here are the responses I received as I tried to clarify and understand the project from a member of the communications and community relations office who didn性视界传媒檛 identify himself or herself when I asked who sent the email responding to my questions.

Total project cost is approximately $1.2 million, funded through previously designated capital improvement allocations. The project remains on schedule and fully compliant with state safety expectations and procurement procedures....

(Note that it was me who used the phrase 性视界传媒渄ecorative fencing性视界传媒 to distinguish between the wire fencing close to the road on Hawkins Parkway, at the rear of the high school, and the more attractive, steel fencing that is also being installed in that area.)

ROAD WORK UPDATE: This past week, the Longview City Council awarded a $974,177 contract to Clark Construction of Victoria to asphalt seal 218,340 square yards of streets in the city of Longview.
The work is part of the city性视界传媒檚 annual street maintenance program, with streets selected for work through the city性视界传媒檚 Pavement Management Program. Dozens of streets will receive maintenance. I性视界传媒檝e attached a list of the streets to the online version of this column.
