Dear readers,

I am glad to be back in my usual spot in the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý after a three-month absence.

I canÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t say IÐÔÊӽ紫ý™m making a triumphant return, but I am making a thankful return.

IÐÔÊӽ紫ý™ve been a klutz my whole life, but cancer has definitely magnified that. On Dec. 12, while participating in a media event at the Longview Police Department, I tripped over my own feet and wiped out, breaking my right hip and my right arm. As it turns out, four years of chemotherapy left me with osteoporosis, which is why I was injured so badly in my fall.

So, yep, that was pretty bad.

But good always comes quickly.

I was in the right place for something like that to happen. I donÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t remember everyone who was there, but I do know that Police Chief Anthony Boone and police spokesman LaDarian Brown were so kind, along with the emergency medical services personnel who took me to the hospital. I never felt so happy to see a familiar face as I was when a friend turned out to be the emergency room doctor standing at the door when I arrived.

I had a whole list of concerns running through my head in the ambulance, but I want yÐÔÊӽ紫ý™all to know that God provided for every one of them. He sent friends and family, the best doctors and nurses to help me and my family.

The women who brought me food every day seemed especially kind and conscientious. The physical and occupational therapists at Longview Regional Medical CenterÐÔÊӽ紫ý™s inpatient rehab center got me up and going again ÐÔÊӽ紫ý” something I wasnÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t sure would be possible when I woke up with a pin in my hip and an arm I couldnÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t use for six weeks.

But IÐÔÊӽ紫ý™m up, walking on a cane and using my right arm again. I still have to keep working to get stronger, but itÐÔÊӽ紫ý™s time to get bet back to work. (I appreciated those of you who checked on me in my absence).

Truth be told, IÐÔÊӽ紫ý™ve been pretty bored; so, I need yÐÔÊӽ紫ý™all to start sending me questions again.

New columns are set to start publishing again at the end of this week.
