AUSTIN, Texas 性视界传媒 The Texas Lottery is getting a two-year lease on life after lawmakers in the state Senate approved sweeping changes to how the game is managed.
On Friday, the Texas Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 3070, a measure that would abolish the Texas Lottery Commission and transfer oversight of the lottery to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The bill sets up a two-year transition period, giving lawmakers until August 2027 to decide whether to end the lottery entirely.

The overhaul follows controversy over a 2023 jackpot totaling $95 million, which was won by a third-party group that reportedly purchased tickets covering nearly every number combination.

In addition to administrative changes, the bill includes several restrictions: it would ban lottery courier services, require in-person ticket sales, and limit purchases to 100 tickets per transaction. Violators would face penalties under the proposed legislation.
The bill now moves to the Texas House for consideration.
