The president of Union Grove ISD's board said the district's superintendent continues to work amid a law enforcement investigation.
Jody Day said trustees are aware of an allegation made to local law enforcement regarding Superintendent Kelly Moore. On July 2, the Upshur County Sheriff's Office announced that officials were investigating whether Moore failed to report an incident of "invasive visual recording" that occurred on school grounds.聽
"No formal charges have been filed against the superintendent at this time, so she continues to perform the duties assigned to that position," Day said in a statement Monday. "The UGISD Board of Trustees assures our students, parents, and community that we prioritize the interests of our students first and foremost, while also acknowledging the legal rights of our employees under state law."
The sheriff性视界传媒檚 office received information June 11 from Union Grove ISD officials and the parent of an alleged victim regarding an incident of invasive visual recording that occurred on school grounds, according to the July 2 statement from the sheriff's office.聽
During the investigation, sheriff性视界传媒檚 office officials discovered information 性视界传媒渢hat has led to the opening of a criminal investigation性视界传媒 involving Moore 性视界传媒渇or the offense of failure to report,性视界传媒 according to the sheriff's office.
The investigation of a student for invasive visual recording and the investigation of Moore will be referred to the Upshur County District Attorney性视界传媒檚 Office upon completion, according to the July 2 statement. Officials said additional information will not be released.
Moore did not immediately return a call requesting comment Monday. Day said in his statement that board members are reviewing facts associated with the allegation.
