While David and Polly were attending Kilgore College, a romance began, and they were married in August 1961, enjoying 64 years of marriage...a wonderful, extended honeymoon. After marrying, David and Polly lived in Lubbock, TX for three years while Polly taught school and David attended Texas Tech and started his career. They returned to Longview in 1964 and raised two daughters, Angela and Becky, who were their daddy性视界传媒檚 pride and joy. He was such a supportive father and husband, always finding time to work in camping trips, vacations and other adventures. He absolutely adored family time.
David worked as a purchasing agent for Gibson性视界传媒檚 Discount Center and R. Lacy Oil Company for a combined 36 years. After retirement, David and Polly enjoyed the reward of relaxation in bird-watching, sunsets, travel, and Lake Cherokee living.
With a big servant heart, David volunteered generously for many local organizations --- Asbury House, Longview Community Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, LIHN, Lobo Band Boosters, Newgate Mission and Carter Blood Bank --- and his home church, First United Methodist Church (FUMC).
David is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Janet Gillespie Thomas and Robert (Bob) Wayne Dunlap. He is survived by his wife, Polly, of Longview, his daughters Angela Martin (Tony) of Longview, TX; Becky Dennis (Gary) of Plano, TX; and his grandson, Cole Dennis of Minneapolis, MN, and many wonderful nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews who kept him amused with games, costumes, and cake decorating.
His family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers from LifeCare Hospice, Traci Elliott and Sandra Epps, and our devoted home health team Cindy Mahin, Cindy Evans and Amy Pittman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Parkinson性视界传媒檚 Foundation, First United Methodist Church of Longview, or .
