The Rexburg Police will never text anyone about overdue fines or the payment of tolls.
Officers made the announcement recently on their Facebook page where they noted a recent scam involving con artists texting residents demanding payment or having their driver性视界传媒檚 license suspended and credit damaged.
性视界传媒淧lease know that Rexburg PD and other government agencies will not contact you this way,性视界传媒 it stated on its Facebook page.
Officers urged residents to always look for 性视界传媒渞ed flags性视界传媒 such as an international phone number, a website with a ".win" URL while attempting to look like a government URL. It also warned about the sender texting with poor grammar and punctuation.
While this particular scam gave a May 11 deadline for tolls to be paid, Facebook respondents reported receiving the text at least twice a month on a regular basis.聽
The text threatened legal action.
性视界传媒淵ou will be considered an illegal driver (for not paying),性视界传媒 it stated.
It asked the receiver to reply with a 性视界传媒淵性视界传媒 and then to click on a bogus webpage link to make a payment.
The Rexburg Police Facebook page lit up with comments from people who had received similar texts.
Officers urged residents to contact them if they believe they received any kind of a scam threat.
