READING, Pa. - Authorities say what began as a reported shooting in Reading's Hampden Park neighborhood has now become a homicide investigation.
Berks County District Attorney John Adams confirmed one person is dead following a weekend shooting in the 1200 block of Oak Lane.
Police were called out just before 5 a.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired.
Arriving officers found the victim at the location with a gunshot wound to the chest. They were transported to Reading Hospital where they later died.
There is no word at this time on the identity of the victim or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities say more information will be released at the appropriate time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
