WASHINGTON D.C.聽性视界传媒 Washington Congressman Michael Baumgartner was announced today by聽House Speaker Mike Johnson he will be serving as a member of the Canada-United States Interparliamentary Group.

The Canada-United States IPG began in the late 1950s, held its first meeting in 1959 and has since that time.

This comes on the heels of President Trump putting in place a 35% tariff on the Canadians and all Canadian goods.

The senator said in a previous hearing:

性视界传媒淭ariffs and trade wars are a major problem for my state... 2 out of every 5 jobs are tied to trade-related industries,性视界传媒 Senator Cantwell said, 性视界传媒淢y state imports $20 billion of goods from Canada, primarily oil, gas, lumber, and electric power, and making our northern border with Washington one of our largest trading partners.性视界传媒

In previous Congressman Ryan Zinkie (R) of Montana, which is also a border district indicated ag tade with Canada and Montana could severely be impacted by tariffs but ultimately supported the work of the president.

Baumgartner性视界传媒檚 said via release that he will focus on shared priorities like strengthening cross-border trade and travel, enhancing energy cooperation, addressing continental supply chain resilience and advancing joint efforts on environmental and security initiatives.

性视界传媒淭he United States and Canada share a deeply rooted partnership based on common democratic values, economic integration, and security cooperation,性视界传媒 Baumgartner said.

Baumgartner represents Washington's fifth congressional district which is a border district.

According to the Parliament of Canada性视界传媒檚 page on the Canada-United States IPG, the group性视界传媒檚 next meetings are scheduled starting July 19 and continuing throughout the month in Birmingham, Alabama, and then Bellevue, Washington and then in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Other members of the Canada-United States IPG include United States Representatives, Jack Bergman, Peter Stauber, Claudia Tenney, Brad Finstad, Nicholas Langworthy and Bill Huizenga, who will serve as the chair.聽

All of the members of the Canada-United States IPG listed in Baumgarnter性视界传媒檚 release are members of the Republican party.
