Actual fanfare greeted Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt on Thursday when he stepped up to a microphone on the steps of the courthouse in Longview.

A crowd had gathered for his announcement that planning has started for next year性视界传媒檚 celebration of America性视界传媒檚 250th birthday.

The so-called Tatum Music Quintet, an informal ensemble of brass instrumentalists including family and employees at the store, provided the music. Tatum Music owner Doice Grant joked after Thursday性视界传媒檚 event that he titled the opening music 性视界传媒淭he Stoudt Fanfare.性视界传媒

Stoudt grinned as he kicked off the celebration that he性视界传媒檇 性视界传媒渘ever had that happen before.性视界传媒

性视界传媒淭hank you for being with us this morning as we look forward to an 性视界传媒 extraordinary milestone 性视界传媒 the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America,性视界传媒 he said. 性视界传媒淚n 2026, we commemorate 250 years of a collective journey, one built on bold ideas, relentless determination and an unwavering commitment to liberty and justice for all.

性视界传媒淭his isn性视界传媒檛 just a reflection of the years gone by. It性视界传媒檚 a reflection of the ideals and what has guided us, the progress we have made and the future we dare to envision. America 250 invites us to honor the pioneers who forged a new nation性视界传媒.性视界传媒

Stoudt said 1776 marked a defining moment in the country性视界传媒檚 history, when the county separated from Great Britain through the Declaration of Independence. That document, he said, 性视界传媒渉as come to represent the timeless values of liberty, democratic self-governance and the inherent rights that lie in the core of America性视界传媒檚 national identity.性视界传媒

He was joined Thursday on stage by Kilgore Mayor Ronnie Spradlin, White Oak City Manager Jimmy Purcell (who was representing White Oak Mayor Kyle Kutch), Longview Mayor Kristen Ishihara and Longview City Council members John Nustad and Shannon Moore along with other local officials.

Stoudt said he had asked the city of Longview to take the lead in organizing the celebration, but it will bring all the cities in the county together. He called for participation across the community, including businesses, schools, cultural organizations and nonprofits.

Longview City Manager Rolin McPhee kicked off the morning event by expressing gratitude for Stoudt性视界传媒檚 leadership.

性视界传媒淭wo hundred and 50 years of American independence is a milestone that speaks not only to the length of our national story, but to the strength of the people who carried it forward generation after generation性视界传媒.性视界传媒 McPhee said. 性视界传媒淲e性视界传媒檙e committed to making this celebration unforgettable. We want every corner of our community to feel the spirit of American 250, not just on July 4 but throughout the coming year as we prepare for that historic day.性视界传媒

The celebration will begin a couple of months ahead of time with public art, exhibitions, various celebrations, decorations around the community and educational initiatives. He encouraged participation by local businesses and nonprofits.

Stoudt encouraged organizations to register their events with the city of Longview.

性视界传媒淛uly 4, 2026 will be a spectacular celebration in Gregg County性视界传媒 and along with the rest of the nation, he said.
