Jim Goldman, who won nearly 600 games in his career and topped 100 wins at Longview, has resigned as head coach of the Longview High School baseball team.
Goldman resigned last week and said he plans to turn in retirement papers sometime this week.
The veteran coach finishes his career with a 581-373-3 record overall, including a 103-111-3 record in eight seasons at Longview High School.
Goldman carved out a 175-58-1 record and won a state championship at Carthage before going 30-21-1 at Pollok Central prior to taking over at Longview for the 2018 season.
His first Lobo team finished 8-17, and the Lobos were 12-15-1 in 2019. The team was off to a 5-4 start to the 2020 season before COVID 19 shut things down.
In 2021, the Lobos finished 22-8, starting GoldmanÐÔÊӽ紫ý™s most successful run in the Longview dugout.
The Lobos were 16-11-1 in 2022, and the 2023 team finished with a 22-18 record and made its deepest playoff run since the 1954 season.
The 2023 Lobos finished fourth in the district race, but heated up in the playoffs. Longview opened with a sweep of Porter (3-2, 5-4), took two of three from Corsicana (4-0, 4-5, 11-9) and then won a series against district rival Hallsville (2-1, 0-4, 3-2) to advance to the regional semifinals ÐÔÊӽ紫ý” knocking off Frisco Reedy 6-5 in the opening game of the series and then falling 4-1 and 13-5.
Longview finished 11-18-1 in 2024 and 7-20 this past season.
