Tesla's highly-anticipated Cybertruck delivery event is set today.

Tesla will celebrate the first deliveries of its highly-anticipated Cybertruck today.

A limited number of shareholders were invited to the event, set to take place at聽Gigafactory Texas in Austin, home to Tesla's headquarters and manufacturing plant.聽

The event is scheduled at 2 p.m. today. The livestream can be viewed on Tesla's official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, or interested viewers can

Today's delivery event is just for an initial batch of the all-electric pickup. In an earnings call in September, Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk said demand for the Cybertruck is "off the charts." Musk said more than 1 million people had reserved the car at that time, according to news reports of the earnings call.

"Aside from its one-of-a-kind angular experiment of a truck, the design replaces the traditional truck frame with a hard stainless steel 'exoskeleton,' similar to airplane design, and extra-strong glass for the windows," according to .

Tesla said the vehicle starts with a base price of less than $40,000, but experts warn to "take that with a grain of salt, based on the company's record of frequent price hikes," according to Consumer Reports.

The truck will come in three variations, with battery ranges of 250, 350, and 500 miles. The top-end version is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and have the ability to tow 14,000 pounds, according to CR. The prototype is expected to evolve and decrease in size slightly.

Three versions of the Cybertruck have been previously announced, including a base single-motor rear-wheel-drive, dual-motor all-wheel-drive, and tri-motor all-wheel-drive models. Tesla says the range for the Cybertruck is expected to be between 250 and 500 miles, depending on the configuration.

The Cybertruck is the automaker's first attempt at an electric pickup. Tesla is expected to eventually produce 250,000 Cybertrucks per year, Musk said, but won't likely reach that number until 2025,

During today's event, Tesla will announce details about the Cybertruck, according to a press release from Tesla.

A replay video will also be available for those unable to watch the livestream.聽
