Governor Jeff Landry praised Emma Foltz of Alexandria, a rising senior at Louisiana Tech University, for her quick thinking and courage under extreme pressure.

Foltz has been a counselor for three years at Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp near Kerrville, Texas, that was ravaged by floodwaters early Friday morning.聽

As water levels rose rapidly overnight, many cabins at Camp Mystic were flooded, prompting an urgent evacuation of children and staff. Authorities have since faced questions about how much warning was given and whether more could have been done to prepare.

President Donald Trump signed a major disaster declaration on Sunday for Kerr County, triggering federal assistance through FEMA.

According to Gov. Landry, Foltz played an 性视界传媒渋nstrumental role性视界传媒 in moving 14 campers to safety.

The tragedy has claimed at least 79 lives across central Texas, with 10 campers still reported missing. The Guadalupe River surged over 26 feet in just 45 minutes, "washing away homes, cabins, and vehicles." Search and rescue teams continue combing the area for survivors and victims.

Families who returned to Camp Mystic over the weekend described the devastation 聽性视界传媒 collapsed cabins and ruined bunk beds.
Governor Landry also offered prayers for those affected and emphasized Louisiana性视界传媒檚 readiness to assist.

"We continue to pray for all those affected by this travesty. Louisiana is here to help!"

聽have already deployed to Texas to aid in response efforts, joining the Coast Guard and multiple Texas agencies in ongoing rescues and recovery.
