Hudson PEP Elementary School students, teachers, staff and other stakeholders on Wednesday celebrated the campus性视界传媒檚 selection as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School.
The celebration event included a performance by the Foster Middle School band, a proclamation presented by Councilman John Nustad and more.
The Longview ISD school was among four in East Texas selected for the honor that recognizes academic achievements and commitment to educational excellence. The other three recognized East Texas schools are Neches High School in Palestine性视界传媒檚 Neches ISD, Caldwell Arts Academy in Tyler ISD, and Gus Winston Cain Elementary in Whitehouse ISD.
性视界传媒淭he National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional achievements of students and educators at each of these schools,性视界传媒 U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said in a statement. 性视界传媒淭he 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation性视界传媒檚 students, serving as models for effective teaching and collaboration within their communities. Across the nation, 356 campuses were recognized in the National Blue Ribbon School program.
Hudson PEP also was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2003.
To qualify, schools must submit a detailed application outlining their culture, curriculum, assessments, instructional practices, professional development, leadership, and community involvement.
The U.S. Department of Education recognizes schools based on performance data, including assessment results and graduation rates, across two categories:
Exemplary high performing schools: Among the top performers in their state, as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
Exemplary achievement gap closing schools: Excelling in narrowing achievement gaps between different student groups and the overall student body.
